Heat-tolerant and low-maintenance, these plants do well with controlled-release fertilizer at planting. For landscape beds, a single dose is usually enough, while containers benefit from a second application every two months or regular water-soluble fertilizer use. If the plant looks tired, a trim of up to 1/3 of the volume with water-soluble fertilizer can revive it, and this can be repeated as needed throughout the season.
